About the Film
A lonely postman (Gilbert) secretly recreates postcards for a woman (Aurore) on his postal route when her boyfriend’s homemade postcards stop arriving from his travels around the world. With the help of his friend Mr. Rostalle, (Paul Dooley) a blind widower and retired literary professor/poet, Gilbert (James Michael Tyler) learns to open himself up to the prospect of love, and in the process of trying to bring someone else happiness, discovers it for himself.
Client Goals
To screen the film and win awards at as many international film festivals as possible so it could be seen and celebrated by audiences worldwide and raise the visibility of the filmmaker.
Results
Rebekah identified that THE GESTURE AND THE WORD would appeal to a lot of festivals focused upon short films & women directors. She was confident that it would have a successful festival run within the U.S.A. due to the film starring two well respected American actors; James Michael Tyler and Paul Dooley.
So far the film has screened at 80 film festivals and has won over 60 awards.
